Welcome to the Egg Freezing Center

The Egg Freezing Center (EFC) is led by Dr. John Jain, an internationally recognized expert in egg freezing research with broad experience in all areas of fertility treatment. Dr. Jain completed his medical training at the University of Southern California, where he remained for nearly a decade as a tenured professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research has translated to outstanding results for his egg freezing patients and the highest pregnancy rates in the country. Last year, he was awarded the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society’s top research prize for his work in egg freezing. He brings his extensive knowledge and expertise to EFC, where we hope to put it to work for you.

The EFC Difference

We are continually working to advance the science of egg freezing. The research we conduct at our sister foundation, the Lyan Institute of Fertility Research (LIFE Research) is directly applied to our practice at EFC. A highlight of this work is our collaboration with practicing cancer specialists to improve fertility preservation options for women diagnosed with cancer.

Our Facilities

Our laboratories are led by Dr. Li Meng, a world-class embryologist and molecular biologist who joins EFC from the Fertility Center at the New York University School of Medicine. Our state-of-the-art facilities have been custom-built to his rigorous specifications to ensure optimum conditions for egg storage. Following thawing and fertilization, the advanced technologies in our Embryo ICU™ optimize the health and development of each embryo.

Egg Storage

The laboratories are protected by an elaborate fingerprint entry and video surveillance system. Stored eggs are monitored by a temperature-sensitive alarm and the storage canisters are kept on rollers to limit damage during an earthquake. Finally, the laboratories are connected to an on-site diesel generator capable of providing power for over a week in the event of a power loss.

The Whole Patient

Because fertility treatment impacts our patients both physically and emotionally, we have established our MindBodyWellness center and we encourage you to utilize this empowering resource. The on-site sanctuary offers mind/body workshops, acupuncture, massage and other complementary therapies proven to both significantly reduce the physical symptoms associated with stress and anxiety, and to give you the tools to restore balance and harmony in all areas of your life.

Financial Information

We are aware that decisions regarding fertility preservation may be influenced by financial concerns. At EFC, there are no hidden costs. We want to emphasize our willingness to discuss these issues with you openly at any time prior to or during your procedure. Before you begin, we will explain in detail all potential charges so that you can make appropriate financial plans.

Because egg freezing is new and considered experimental by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, all egg freezing activities at EFC and its affiliates are conducted under the oversight of a Research Ethics Board to assure patient safety. In addition, all work from EFC and its affiliates is submitted for academic peer-review and for publication in scientific journals.
